Vintage Hermès Groenland shawl, in excellent pre-loved condition. Blue is such a versatile color, and this beauty features many shades, offset with white and grey highlights to make the blues really pop. Designed by Philippe Ledoux, this design was issue after his passing. The eskimo theme may lead one to think this design pays homage to Greenland, however it references an area near Oslo, Norway. The three main scenes depict a young boy preparing for harpooning, kayaking through the icebergs, and mushing with sled dogs through the snow.  Two smaller vignettes feature a family of polar bears, and the young boy with two sled pups. Date of issue: 1982. The shawl comes in the original box.
