Hermès "Victoires et Scènes Militaires de la Vie de Napoléon" (Military Victories and Scenes from Napoleon's Life) silk scarf, in excellent pre-loved condition. This unique, rare, and collectible scarf is designed in 1948 by Hugo Grygkar. Grygkar, a famous designer, is also credited with creating the very first Hermès scarf in 1937. Called also "the father of Hermès silk scarf", Grygkar was Hermès' most prolific designer who produced more than 100 designs. He did not sign his work, hence there is no signature on this scarf, either. This extraordinary scarf illustrates Napoleon's battles throughout Europe, as well as his coronation in 1904 ("Le Sacre"). Ten scenes are depicted in silhouette, with Napoleon poised on a column at the center. This may have been based on the Vendôme column that Napoleon had built in Paris in 1810 to celebrate one of his victories. There are also capital N letters in each corner of the scarf. Dimensions: 90 x 90 cm. It comes in the original box. Free shipping.
